Pride Toronto 2015: Top Events to Check Out

It might be hard to top the festivities from last year’s World Pride in Toronto this year but we have faith! Every year Toronto comes alive for the 10 day festival celebrating the LGBTQ community here and around the world and we’re lucky that the celebrations happen so close to home, right in our neighbourhood. Yonge Street is always buzzing (even more than usual) throughout the entire festival. We can’t wait.

This year Prides runs from June 19th to 28th and has an amazing set of events lined up for you to participate in. These are our tops picks:

Opening Party – June 19th
This year’s kick-off party is bringing YouTube star Toddrick Hall to Toronto. He’s guaranteed to have you on the floor laughing in between shows on the BIA Stage at Church Street and Alexander Street. You’ll get to enjoy some great tunes, great company, and be a part of celebrating Pride in Toronto for its 35th year.

Sweetness Pride Beach Party – June 21st
This event is the sweetest of them all! Head to Sugar Beach for the Sweetness Pride Beach Party to party by the water. This annual event always brings some of the most fun DJs to Pride and is guaranteed to be a fun time. It’s also a great excuse to spend Sunday on the beach.

Flag Raising Ceremony – June 22nd
At noon on June 22nd the official Pride flag will be raised at City Hall. Anyone celebrating this year is invited to come out and see the flag go up alongside our Mayor John Tory and other city officials!

Streetfair – June 26th to 28th
This 3-day streetfair happens in the Village, which is the Church/Wellesley/Alexander neighbourhood. It’s an awesome opportunity to meet and get to know all the organizations who participate in Pride each year, while also munching on some delicious food and checking out local artisan booths.

Pride Parade – June 28th
All of the Pride Toronto hype leads up to one main event: the Pride Parade. On the last day of Pride, starting at 2pm Yonge Street is closed down from Bloor to Dundas Square for this unforgettable parade. Prepare to see a lot of great colours and costumes. It’s a ton of fun.

These are just a handful of the great events you can check out at Pride! You can check out the full list of festivities here.
